This Lakeridge residence addition and remodel project sprang from the gorgeous Lake Washington views that this family could not take full advantage of. The original house was cramped for this family of 4 and had the existing master bedroom in the low-ceiling attic room.
The constraints for the project were both budgetary and architectural, as the unusual configuration of this partial split level home posed a unique design challenge. The project entailed removing the existing attic room and building a full height second story with a new master suite and recreation room in its place. In addition, small changes were made on the main floor to open the kitchen up to the gorgeous lake views. An opening was made in the wall between the kitchen and the dining area. The existing kitchen cabinetry was reused and rearranged to create the new configuration, as seen below.
